Hatha Yoga Background
Originally I worked in Banking for 10 years before moving into Corporate Treasury for another 10 years and finishing as Treasury Consultant with HP in California. It didn't really make me happy so I looked for an alternative and shifted my lifestyle around to what I enjoy doing and with a background in Martial Arts when I was younger and an interest in Natural Health I quit my job, sold my house and enrolled on a 3 year Shiatsu course and also went to India!
My intensive Hatha Yoga training was undertaken with Duncan Hulin, Yoga Director, Devon School of Yoga, in Varkala, Kerala State, South India,in 2003 where I completed the School's 6hrs a day(!) Teacher Trainer Foundation Course in Hatha Yoga. I stayed on for another six months practicing yoga, visiting ashrams and training with local teachers. Intensive workshops in Pranayama, Meditation and Asanas was also completed in southern Spain, followed by further advanced Teacher Training workshops with the Devon School of Yoga.
I also attended Sarah Powers Yin Yoga training with Tri-Yoga in London and a Sivananda Yoga retreat with Ishwara in the Lake District. Further trainings have been undertaken in Bodywork and Osteopathic Spinal Manipulation therapies to aid hands-on adjustments.
A Meditation retreat with the British Taoist Association was also completed in Sussex during Spring 2006. Taoist philosophy, daoyin qigong, walking meditations and sitting practices were also followed.
I am recognised as a Senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals association after 20yrs of providing Yoga instruction to thousands of students and classes over many years. And a registered Yoga Teacher member of the Independent Yoga Network.
Also a qualified Zen Shiatsu practitioner and Traditional Acupuncturist trained in Osteopathic Spinal Manipulation, which helps his hands on adjustments for those Yoga practitioners wishing to improve their Yoga posture alignments and fix damaged bodies!
